Wildwood Dancing - Juliet Marillier Wildwood Dancing is a wonderful book. I cannot pinpoint the exact reason I didn't fall head over heals in love with it. Like many of Juliet Marillier's books, it took a while for me to become invested in the story and its characters. There's a slow build-up to the main action, which seems very characteristic of the author's writing style (its not a criticism). While the writing is stellar and Jena is certainly a likeable and strong heroine, I think my lack of enthusiasm for the story may have something to do with the choice of fairy tale. This tale just didn't appeal to me like the ones used in Daughter of the Forest and Heart's Blood. I kept comparing this book to Marillier's other works and I just don't think it's as strong of a story. Like I said, it's probably more an issue with my own personal preferences as a reader than any actual problem with the story. It's not a bad book and anyone who likes fairy-tales will likely enjoy reading it.Rating: 3 Stars
